PLANNING UPDATE FROM NEWICK PARISH COUNCIL (Woods Fruit Farm)
Since our last planning update on 9th June, there have been some further developments.
We informed you that a planning application for the demolition of Oakside and the erection
of 69 homes at Woods Fruit Farm had been submitted to Lewes District Council (LDC).
Thank you to the many residents who wrote to LDC with their concerns - and we are now
pleased to report that this application was refused by the LDC planning committee on 12th

Sale of land by auction in Oldaker Road and vicinity
About 2 weeks ago we became aware that land on the estate which includes the green areas marked on the map are to be auctioned on the 5th December. Update on Housing Development in Newick
Newick is a wonderful place to live. With the aid of our Neighbourhood Plan, your Council is doing its best to protect Newick from over development, whilst allowing the village to grow and flourish. We have recently learnt that the long-awaited decision from the Secretary of State on the Mitchelswood Farm proposal, is that the Inquiry will be re-opened.

Proposed Development of Land between Vernons Road and The Rough, Newick
Newick’s Neighbourhood Plan was adopted by Lewes District Council in July 2015, after being approved by over 89% of those who voted in the referendum earlier that year. Policy HO5 of the Neighbourhood Plan provides for the construction of a pair of semi-detached bungalows or houses,
each with no more than three bedrooms, on the land owned by Newick Parish Council between Vernons Road and The Rough.
